Budapest Hungary main airport BUD Ferenc Liszt International with practical info

Budapest Ferenc Liszt International Airport BUD is the largest airport in Hungary, located about 16 kilometers southeast of Budapest's city center. The airport is named after the famous Hungarian composer and pianist Franz Liszt.

It was formerly known as Budapest Ferihegy International Airport and is still commonly called just Ferihegy.

It serves as the primary hub for Hungarian airlines such as Wizz Air, Ryanair, and LOT Polish Airlines and is a focus city for several other airlines. The airport has two terminals, Terminal 2A and Terminal 2B, connected by a pedestrian walkway.

Budapest Ferenc Liszt International Airport offers a variety of services and facilities for travellers, including shops, restaurants, currency exchange offices, ATMs, lounges, and duty-free stores. It also provides free Wi-Fi throughout the airport and has several transportation options available, including taxis, public buses, and a train station located nearby.

Sky Court is a state-of-the-art building between terminals 2A and 2B with 5 levels. Passenger safety checks were moved here along with new baggage classifiers and business class lounges, such as the first MasterCard lounge in Europe. New shops, restaurants and cafés were placed in the new building's transit hall. With the opening of Skycourt, Terminal 2 has become capable of receiving about 11 million passengers a year, instead of the former joint capacity of about 7 million.

Large windows and glass surfaces flood with natural light the spacious interior of the shell-shaped building.

Passengers can enjoy a stunning view of departing and arriving planes while enjoying a cup of coffee or other refreshments from one of the many cafes and restaurants.

The visitor terrace affords a fascinating glimpse onto the apron, the hustle and bustle of the aircraft landing at and taking off from the airport. For the safety and security of visitors, a glass wall runs along the edge of the terrace, but this does not detract from the ability to enjoy the spectacle of the apron, or to take some unique photos.

There are talks about a future Terminal C expansion, after 2025.
