Welcome to the Home of Guinness!

We're embarking on an epic journey to one of Dublin's most iconic landmarks – the legendary Guinness Storehouse! If you've ever dreamt of stepping inside the world of the black stuff, smelling the barley, and learning the secrets behind that perfect pint, then you're in the right place. Stick with us, because we're going to explore every single corner of this incredible seven-story experience, leaving no stone – or pint – unturned!

Location & Getting There

First things first, where are we? We're right in the heart of Dublin's historic Liberties district, at St. James’s Gate, Ireland. Getting here is super easy whether you're walking, cycling, or using public transport. The Hop-on Hop-off bus even has a direct stop right outside! And if you're driving, there's limited free parking on Crane Street – just get here early to grab a spot. We’re literally at the birthplace of Guinness!

Tickets & Accessibility – Plan Your Visit

Now, about getting in. Book your tickets online and in advance! Not only do you guarantee your spot, especially during peak times, but you also save a couple of Euros. Adult tickets start from around €26, children from €10, and kids under 4 go free. They even have family tickets available. And for our viewers with accessibility needs, rest assured, the Guinness Storehouse is fully accessible with ramps and lifts.

Entering the Atrium & The 9,000-Year Lease

The sheer scale of this place is incredible! We're in what was once a fermentation plant, now transformed into this magnificent visitor center. Look up at this colossal, pint-glass-shaped atrium – it's an architectural marvel! And right here, on the ground floor, is where the incredible story begins. Imagine, in 1759, a man named Arthur Guinness signed a 9,000-year lease on this very site for an annual rent of just £45.

Arthur Guinness – The Visionary

Arthur Guinness, born in 1725 in County Kildare, was truly a pioneer. He learned the art of brewing from his father and, with a modest inheritance of £100, first established a brewery in Leixlip. But his sights were set on something bigger, something grander, right here in Dublin. At just 34 years old, he laid the foundation for what would become the world's largest brewery. He started with ale, but quickly found his passion in a new English style: porter.

Guinness Goes Global – The Early Exports

By 1799, Arthur Guinness had made a bold decision: he stopped brewing ale entirely to focus solely on porter. This marked a turning point. The first export of Guinness left Dublin for England in 1796, but it was the creation of 'West India Porter' in 1801 that truly launched Guinness onto the global stage. This brew was specially formulated with higher hop and alcohol content to withstand long sea voyages, reaching destinations as far as Barbados by 1822.

Marketing & Advertising Through the Ages

Moving up to the third floor, prepare to be charmed by the evolution of Guinness advertising! From the iconic toucan to the famous 'My Goodness, My Guinness' slogans, this floor is a vibrant display of Guinness's marketing genius through the decades. You’ll see vintage posters, quirky campaigns, and even interactive exhibits that let you experience the brand's playful side. It’s not just about the beer; it's about the culture and stories it has inspired. You'll really get a sense of how Guinness became ingrained in popular culture.

The Guinness Academy – Master the Pour!

For those who want to take their Guinness game to the next level, the Guinness Academy, also on the fourth floor, is a must-do add-on! Here, under the watchful eye of a stout-pouring specialist, you'll learn the legendary six-step pour. From the initial tilt of the glass to the final topping up, mastering this skill is an art form. And once you've poured your perfect pint, you get to enjoy your handiwork – along with a certificate proving your mastery! (Family tickets are available, but children can only watch, not partake.)

The STOUTie – Your Selfie on a Pint!
Still on the fourth floor, get ready for some personalized fun with the STOUTie! Imagine your own selfie, printed directly onto the creamy head of your Guinness. Yes, you heard that right! This unique experience uses innovative technology to create a one-of-a-kind, Instagram-worthy pint. It's a fantastic photo opportunity and a brilliant way to add a personal touch to your visit

For a quick snack or a coffee, the Roasthouse on the first floor is perfect. If you're looking for a relaxed pub atmosphere with city views, head to Arthur’s Bar for classic Irish dishes like bangers & mash or a delicious steak sandwich, all perfectly paired with Guinness.
