After over 60 years, we finally had a carnival parade in the main municipality of Thessaloniki! Thousands gathered at the city center, dressed in vibrant carnival costumes, parading to rhythmic beats! Here’s what happened! Stay tuned until the end to witness the preparations before the parade!

The Thessaloniki Carnival Parade boasts a vibrant
history rooted in cultural celebration. Dating back to the early 20th century,
it evolved from local customs and traditions into a grand spectacle attracting
thousands of participants and spectators. Initially celebrated with modest
street festivities, it grew over the years, reflecting the city's diverse
influences and vibrant spirit.
During its early years, the carnival provided an opportunity for social commentary and satire, often mocking political figures and societal norms. However, it also served as a platform for community bonding and expression, showcasing the city's rich cultural heritage through music, dance, and elaborate costumes.
We hope in the future the event is going to be
officially organised so it can gather more participants.
