Constructed about 370 BC, by Polycleitus of Argos.

Capacity was close to 18.000.

 

Narrow water canal was installed to enhance acoustics.

 

Wooden stage was portable, enabling storage of theatre props.

 

Distance is less than 2 Km from modern city of Megalopolis.

 

It was the biggest theatre of Ancient Greece.

 

Dimensions: cavea width 145 m, orchestra diameter 30 m
