Girona Airport (GRO)
is an alternative way to travel from or to Barcelona.
Mostly preferred by low cost airlines like Ryanair while other airlines
conduct seasonal flights.
In order to plan ahead, have in mind that the airport is about 90 km away
from Barcelona.
The city of Girona is about 12 km away.
The cheapest option is to take a bus to Barcelona for a trip of about 75
minutes.
If you head to Girona you can take a fast train to Barcelona.
If you take a taxi to Riudellots you can catch a non-fast train to
Barcelona but you will have to pay for the 4 km distance the double price it
will cost you to ride the bus to Barcelona!
The airport is easy to navigate and usually less crowded.
Upon entrance check your luggage or if not carrying any go straight up to
security check.
Right after you can head to the tax free shops.
On the first floor of departures there is a balcony with an open air bar café
waiting area.
