Thessaloniki, Greece Heavy Snowfall 10 & 11 January 2017
Tuesday morning January 10 found the city unprepared to deal with the sudden snowfall.
Hours of dense snow covered even the city's center pavements and streets with white.
People were told to leave their works and head back home.
This event led to endless traffic jams.
Most had to spend more than three hours inside their car,
trying to cover a distance of less than 6 kilometers.
Public buses could hardly move or drive at a decent speed
which led people trying desperately to find a way back home.
On Wednesday January 11 workers were told to stay home.
Schools also remained closed and the traffic was better.
