How to travel by train from Brussels to Luxembourg. (practical info)

For this trip we departed from Gare Centrale, not Bruxelles – Midi station.

The distance between Brussels and Luxembourg City is about 225 Km.

The train takes 3h 15 min to cover the distance.

It takes just 2h 10 min by car.

Each route crosses a country border after Arlon.

Schengen Convention allows you to move freely among these European states.

Although border checks have been removed,
you may still need a passport or other ID to maintain your right to travel freely.

There is usually a train running every hour, from early in the morning until midnight.

Even if you pay in advance, your train ticket has no seat reservation.

SNCB states “This open ticket is valid on any Inter City, Euro City
or regional train on the travel date indicated”

If your train is delayed for more than 60 minutes, you will be refunded
at least 25% of the value of your ticket.
