Piazza di Spagna Rome Spanish Steps closed for renovation until early 2016

Spanish Steps are for some time closed for the public due to a renovation process.
We will not be able to set foot again for many months to come.

Bulgari brand is sponsoring the renovation after 20 years from the last one.
For now, even the square is almost empty and quiet, so no “Roman Holiday” movie scenes re-lived!

The makeover is estimated to cost more than 1.5 million euros.
Just don’t plan to set foot to the 144 steps again before spring 2016!

At least the square is open and you can take a photo before the 300 years old Barcaccia Fountain (already restored the summer of 2014).

Locals still remember that Fontana della Barcaccia was damaged on February 2015 by a group of hooligans attending a Europa League game.
